DENVER (CBS4) –
Another warm, dry day in Colorado. The clouds did prevent us from warming up too much across eastern Colorado, but we did still make it into the 50s.
We’ll get even warmer on Tuesday, a highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 60s! The record in Denver is 72° set in 1953 which seems save but we should within a few degrees. Tuesday will also be mostly sunny and dry along the Front Range thanks to the same downslope flow responsible for the very mild temperatures.
However in the high country, there will be spotty snow to start the day but more widespread snow as we head into the afternoon and evening. Winter Storm Watches start for the southern mountain areas on Tuesday night and go through Wednesday evening for 8 to 16 or more inches of snow. The northern mountains see their Winter Storm Watch start on Wednesday as snow won’t be as wide spread until then. They could also see 8 to 16 inches of snow.
For Denver, we’ll see the chance for rain ramp up in the afternoon hours. We’ll also get pretty windy with the passing of a cold front. The rain could turn over to snow in Denver on Wednesday evening, but accumulation won’t be much. Remember, we’ll be close to 70 on Tuesday. Areas south of Denver have a better chance for some snow to accumulate.
