China’s police force wants to build a video surveillance network that is “omnipresent,” inter-connected, and “fully controllable.”
China already has an estimated 176 million security cameras installed everywhere from streets to train station to airports, and is expected to have 620 million in three years.
Beijing is planning to use some cameras, along with other data sources, to feed a “social credit system” that will evaluate citizens.
