On Wednesday (Nov. 8), Las Vegas became the first US city to operate a self-driving shuttle service in normal traffic. Less than one hour later, it got into an accident—caused by a human.

A human-driven truck backed into the shuttle. Witnesses said the shuttle stopped moving after sensing the truck, but the truck driver did not see the shuttle.
“Had the truck had the same sensing equipment that the shuttle has, the accident would have been avoided,” the city of Las Vegas said in a statement.
No one was injured and damages to the vehicles were minor. The truck driver got a ticket.
The free service in downtown Las Vegas is operated by transportation company Keolis and sponsored by the American Automobile Association.
